That's a LOT of skill. Deadly on close-range small game. I was hoping for one of the old-school brick/rock throwers, though. Those really can kill anything smaller than a bear...

That's truely amazing!

Drop that guy off someplace with his slingshot, a pocket knife, and a Bic lighter, and he'll be just fine.

He makes that look pretty easy. My time with a slingshot was spent fumbling with rocks, hitting my hand, and replacing rubber. I'll have to find myself a source or good rubber and give it another try with a handmade slingshot.

One early morning last year I came across Chief AJ (http://www.chiefaj.com/) at our club range shooting trap with a slingshot and white marbles. I wish I would have been there for more of it, but the footage is supposed to be available on video with his kits.

I went to the site, and there were some interesting pictures, one of which is this one:

What looks like a large earring, I hope does not end up going down range!

OUCH!

I am going to buy one of that fellers sling shots. Just so I can say I had one. That guy was amazing.

its all in knowing how to aim and release
i pop pop cans all the time with mine. ive even taken a few wasklies
with .25 steel shot

He has a real talent there. Its a shame that this talent is not as common as it used to be. Kids only know TV and video games now.

He was a remarkable man. But all of you should know that Rufus Hussey a.k.a. The Bean Shooter Man passed away back in Febuary of 1994.

That's probably the only time being scared of a slingshot came into my thought process. I would hate to be on the other end of that slingshot.

Thanks for a great post!
What a natural...and with natural random stones... he just knew he was going to hit what ever he intended!

That guy was amazing. Most people couldn't shoot nearly that well with an open choke shotgun. He should have been made a national treasure. I'm sorry to hear he passed on. It would have been nice if he had passed on his amazing skill with a slingshot to someone so his art wouldn't die with him.

Thanks. That put a smile on my face.

Cool technique he had, too, of holding the slingshot horizontal until he was ready to release.

I used to shoot a folding pocket rocket A LOT before I turned 18 and bought my first firearm. You could definitely hit things with it - me and my friend could hit a 12 oz. soda can over 50% of the time across the length of his yard which was maybe 15-20 yards. And that was just using rocks.

That made me happy and sad at the same time. But overall more happy, I just wish kids still learned things like this. Now sligshots aren't even proper toys for kids.
