Updated today, from their website (aclu.org).

Heller Decision and the Second Amendment
So, we’ve been getting a lot of comments about the ACLU’s stance on the Second Amendment. For those of you who didn’t catch our response in the blog comments, here it is again:

The ACLU interprets the Second Amendment as a collective right. Therefore, we disagree with the Supreme Court’s decision in D.C. v. Heller. While the decision is a significant and historic reinterpretation of the right to keep and bear arms, the decision leaves many important questions unanswered that will have to be resolved in future litigation, including what regulations are permissible, and which weapons are embraced by the Second Amendment right that the Court has now recognized.
As always, we welcome your comments.

The ACLU is a joke, maybe we ought to start our own organization which says the first amendment is a collective right, and does not apply to certain groups, such as the ACLU.

I hope that group falls apart. That is completely ridiculous. They could care less about the Constitution.

If you have not figured out the ACLU and their agenda yet you need to do some deep thinking. They are very good at what they do. It is the WHY? behind it that matters. Always has been.

Kim, Help me out regarding the ACLU agenda.

Kim, I'm intrigued by your comment. I'm a thinker, but I'm drawing a blank on the ACLU agenda because I really don't know anything about it. Will you help me out?

The American Civil Liberties Union.

Their entire existence was laid forth to protect civil liberties. I don't understand how they can even see it as an option to disagree with this decision.

I would like to ask the ACLU what other rights specifically mentioned in the Bill of Rights they think are collective?

I like the one comment which asked for more clarification and information on exactly where the "collective rights" opinion comes from.

The ACLU interprets the Second Amendment as a collective right. Therefore, we disagree with the Supreme Court’s decision in D.C. v. Heller.

Oh darn. I guess that settles the matter and everyone can go home now.

In law, there is a concept called "Stare Decisis" which means "settled law" It is set by precedent, but most of all by Supreme Court rulings. Heller is now Stare Decisis, and the law of the land. If the ACLU just decides to ignore it, then ALL of their legal positions are impeached.

That's too bad. I guess I held out some hope that they weren't quite the ideologues that everyone else always told me they were.

I agree that this is a ridiculous organization that seems to just pick and choose what they think is right and wrong. I wonder if anyone has ever asked them for representation in a civil suit when that person's 2nd amendment has been infringed. I'm sure if so then that person was promptly shown the front door.
Please, interpret my rights for me. That way i can fall in line behind the sheep in front of me!!

Call me nieve, but I just can't fathom how so many Americans can be as ignorant, or just single minded, as to think that abolishing a constitutional right is acceptable. The Framers not only meant for the 2nd ammendment to allow citizens to secure themselves and their country from invading forces (both domestic and otherwise) but also to keep the power in the hands of the people so that their government would always serve the people, and not the other way around.

Maybe I'm the ignorant one but I just can't get my mind around how many Americans don't get it, that a lot of people either currently in power, or running for a position of power (case in point, Hillary Clinton, Barrack Obama, Nancy Pelosa among others) are trying to move this country out of a democracy and into a socialist republic.
