WELL SHUCKS, MAKES ME SO HAPPY TO HAVE MINE , A 3rdGEN SAA 45/45.
Musta been about ten years ago now that I walked into the gunstore in RCSD to find a brand new COLT SAA 45ACP/45COLT awaiting my adaption for a paltry $1050.00. It was the first time I ever paid over four figures for a new firearm !!! It is a genuine COLT SAA 45ACP with a spare fitted 45COLT cylinder, NOT the other way around.
The sights hit a tiny bit low with 45ACP 230 gr ammunition and a tiny bit high with 45COLT 250gr ammunition. I have never had the sights touched and it shoots up a storm with either caliber. I can knock the stew outta the 50 meter field pistol pigs with it. It is such a DELIGHT to shootup scads of 45ACP ammunition and not have to chase a single case down the rattlesnake hole as to ALMOST begger comparison. As a matter of fact I cannot remember the last time I shot any of my 1911 45 pistols !!!
This COLT SAA 45/45 is also the only 45/45 convertible I have [ two Rugers, a Cimarron, a Hartford, three S&W's...] that has fired MANY more 45ACP cartridges than 45COLT cartridges. It is simply wonderful beyond words !!
It is one of the guns that never EVER leaves my gunbox and goes with me every where I go. You DO NOT reach that exalted staus without delivering the goods everytime everywhere.
