Now, I'm sure you've all seen this video by now, but I just wanted to comment on something I saw that was amazing:
The guy doesn't have that stupid "I'm an operator" attitude to him. I watched the FN SCAR demo video and the people are all stuck up about their product and it really pissed me off. Like, I liked the rifle, but the person demonstrating it made me want to puke! The ACR video is not like that. The rep is just a guy showing off his product, that he likely helped to design/produce and he's really excited about it. That's it. Plus he shows off a bit at the end. I mean, it all feels like something a real person would do, not a hired robot.
Just an observation, love Magpul, looking forward to the ACR.

It was coming out late in 2007.
But no, due to delays, we had to wait until early in 2008.
Now, it's due in 2009!

I'm not seeing it coming... awesome looking rifle (although it really offers the casual shooter nothing other than a cool toy over the AR and AKs), but will it ever reach the market?

Yeah I am guessing it will end up as vaporware along with the SCAR, leaving us poor civilians pondering "what if" for the rest of our henceforth miserable and fruitless lives...

Good thing I am into FALs and M1As now, and don't have much interest in poodle shooters, or this could be really disappointing.

I think it is a good design but originally was too expensive to manufacture. From what I have read they are re-designing some of the components so they will be easier to manufacture.

If they introduced it at $2000 then very few would plunk down the cash.

When I lived in Colorado I went shooting with some of the Magpul guys. They are just as you described, laid back, really enjoy guns, and are always coming up with ways to improve them.

Yeah, it just impressed me that Magpul would go to the trouble to have a real rep there, not just a hired, trained nitwit.

I wanted one when I first saw one in FDE. Then they made the changes and it became the ACR. I love the changes like the charging handle being so far foward and on both sides of the weapon. Im still down about the fact that they dont want to put the folding stock on the 16inch model and that its going to come out in only black at first. My problem is that im just really tired of waiting and that the XCR or the Sig 556 are starting to look better all the time.

I was more interested in the Masada before it became the Bushmaster ACR.

My experiance with Bushmaster carbines is 100% negative thus far so I am taking a wait and see attitude. I also have almost no interest in another 5.56 gun.

If the ACR doesnt come in 5.45 I wont by buying it at all...

Magpul had a Kobayashi Maru scenario re deciding when to tell everyone that they were working on the Masada. Wait too long, and they might face delays getting someone to buy the design, or be forced into a less than satisfactory arrangement with a manufacturer if they had to make the choice quickly.

Tell people too early, and they would be even more impatient than they are now.

Objectively though, the development cycle has been swift. According to their 2007 SHOT release on the matter, the Masada was just some napkin scribbles and CAD drawings in late 2006.

I think its a good concept, I dont think I would buy one though...
on the other hand, the price is comparable to an AR from what I heard.
I know my brother is ape **** about them....

I might be if they offer a bull barrel down the line.
