Actual Count of Bulk Ammo??

Ignition Override:

I ordered 2,000 rounds from the CMP in January or February and received it sometime in April. I own a counting scale, and I think I ended up with something like 2,060 or so.

By the way, I tumbled every single round in walnut shells at least 12 hours followed by corn cob at least 12 hours.

I don't think i had to discard a single round for excess corrosion.

Early this year I caught Dick's Sporting Goods with several Remington 'Buckets o' Bullets,' I snagged 2,800 rnds (supposedly) of 22 lr.
Because I'm mindful of the sufferings of my fellow shooters I divvied the buckets into baggies of 500 and 400 in order to share them out. One of the buckets was spot on and the other came up 51 rounds short. :(

I called the nice folks in Lonoke, AR, told them my troubles and they shipped me a 225-rnd box for my trouble. :D

vtail: Thanks. I've never bought M2 Ball in this manner. Some of mine is in the sealed cans (192/240 rds.).
Do some of those loose rounds have enough corrosion which could noticeably worsen in three-five years?
Have never bought a tumbler.

Most of my ammo is being kept for retirement in a few years, or to prepare for high import duties, maybe shortages (UN Small Arms Treaty 'problems').

I've bought HXP from the CMP and come in both over and under the advertised 200. Right now I think I'm ahead about 4 rounds. I can't say I'd complain if I was under by 4 or 5 rounds either. Good price and good people.

If yours are like the 10 cans I received, you won't need to worry about corrosion at all.

I only tumbled mine because I had the tumbler just sitting there and everyone knows that shiny ammo shoots better than dull ammo.
