Well I showed up first and got my choice though there was quite a bit avilable for those who showed up early. Now the run down.

Remington UMC 1,000 round bulk 9mm 115gr.....$239.99.

Remington UMC 500 round bulk 45ACP 230 grain........$209.99

Rem UMC 250 round yellow box 40S&W 180grain........$94.99.

The above I bought.

They also had 5.56 XM 193 ( 2 versions) @ $8.99 for a box of 20 and AE 100 count boxes going for $39.99 each. There was some Win 22lr in 100 round boxes but I'm not sure of the price but when I bought one a few weeks ago I think it was $10 for the 100 round box. End of report.

Forgot to add that they got one AR15 in. It was a DPMS selling for $799 and was sold within minutes.

Good timing. I have bought some ammo at Walmart in the past week by being there at the right time.

I would still love to find a few bricks of .22 that I could snap up. That would make me feel better. I went online today and checked every website I could thin of. None of them had any .22 but match grade.

I think the Academys in the Fort Worth area are limiting to one box of ammo per customer. I live to far from any box stores to make regular trips. I'm stuck with Walmart, but they receive shipments each morning and the only days I can be there at 7:30 to catch the shipments is on Sat and Sun. Slowly, but surely, I am getting stocked up on what I got caught short on before the panic; namely .40 S&W, .38 Special and .30-30.

It's almost like Christmas every weekend when I go to Walmart and peek over the gun counter to see what Santa has delivered overnight!

One of these days I'm going to get off my lazy butt and get into reloading, but I'm looking at a huge initial investment, which is the thing that keeps me from taking the plunge.

I thought I heard my local Academy guy wrong.

I rolled in around 1030 just to hear what I knew was already gone. Didn't know they were getting cases of 9mm.

While this can be true, it isn’t necessarily so. Shop around for a simple single station press. You can use an expensive set of Lee Dippers to measure powder. You don’t have to buy dies for everything you have at one time, so pick the one your are most likely to shoot the most often. I had one friend that picked up everything he needed to load .38 Special for under $100 dollars.

Heck, it's not like you'll be able to do it again for the next 6 months.
My thinking exactly as I don't see things getting better as we move into spring and the outdor shooting season in many parts of the country. Of course to raise the money to shore up my pistol calibers I slod ome of my 223 and 22lr stash. I figured if people were willing to pay a $1 round or more for 223 I might as well get in on the action. I did and managed to generate some cash to buy ammo when it showed up.

I'm getting tired of the searching every day though waiting an hour before Academy opens it doors is getting tiresome but if you want Ammo that is pretty much your only chance to purchase Ammo at near normal pricing levels before this mess in Conn. happened with its political aftermath.

Honestly I don't see things getting better anytime soon so I'm buying now because I'm simply afraid. I'm afraid I will be pushed out of the hobby due to a lack of ammo availability and high prices for what ammo that can be found. I've already cut out practice time and plan to skip 8 of my pistol matches this year. Oh well time to head off to Academy to stand and wait for them to open up with the hope of finding some ammo.
