I’m looking for an adjustable gas block for a 300 Blackout AR w/ suppressor. Currently the gas port opening is 0.75” with carbine length gas system. My goal is to be able to easily turn off the gas system for extra quiet subsonic shots and/or prevent brass from being lost in the tall grass.

This is the upper that I have if more info needed:

My ideal gas block would:

• Be easily adjustable by hand – no screws/wrenches/hammers needed
• Have on/off/suppressor setting(s) when running supers
• Easy to install
• Relatively inexpensive

I found this Noveske gas block that is just about what I’m looking for, but I’m not sure if I want to part with $180 yet.

Is this the typical price range for what I’m looking for? Am I missing any other options? I don’t have any experience with the gas blocks with adjustable screws, but it seemed like it would be annoying to mess with. Lose track of how many turns, misplace alan wrench, ect. Thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Well, from what you've described that you want and from the available gas blocks that I know about, the Noveske is the only one I know with on/off hand adjustable settings. Most everything else requires a wrench or key of some kind.

However, if you might change your mind about a wrench, I know of 2 very good blocks that require wrenches but are secure in their settings and still relatively quick to adjust. They are the Syrac Ordnance Gen II and the SLR Rifleworks versions.

Also, I think by "gas port opening of .75", you really mean a gas block seat of .75" diameter barrel. Am I correct? I seriously doubt the actual gas port in the barrel is 3/4 of an inch big.

Yes you are very correct, wrong terminology on my part!

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll look into those.

When I started looking for an adjustable gas block I was surprised at how few I was finding. Seems like there are sometimes too many choices for other AR parts!

After researching it quite a bit, I bought the SLR Sentry 7. It's being shipped to me as we speak so I can't comment on it yet.

For your, on//off requirement, the noveske is probably your best bet.

I like the Syrac adjustable gas block. Gen 2 is the better one. Easy to set and it locks with a push button. I have two and several friends have them. They are very good blocks.

I have one on a light weight buffer/carrier system for 3 gun and a SBR with a suppressor. It has both guns running perfectly.
