Can lightening the pull on a Rem 700 trigger lead to light primer strikes? Actually can it lead to NO primer strikes?

I am asking as I did adjust my trigger recently, and also had a Tubb Speedlock pin and spring installed. I went to the range for the first time today, load a round, pull the trigger, nothing. The firing pin is dropping, no doubt, but no impact whatsoever on the primer.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!!!

Adjusting the trigger pull cannot affect the primer strike unless the gun won't remain cocked, which does not seem to be the problem you are having.

Since even a very weak spring should cause some mark on the primer, I would assume that the dry fire stop on the firing pin is impacting on the bolt head inside the bolt* before the firing pin tip reaches the primer.

Look at both the new and old firing pins, and compare the distances between the dry fire stops and the firing pin tips. If the new firing pin distance is less, you have found the problem. I am not familiar with that firing pin and spring, but some are adjustable while others have to be fitted. In either case, change the new one to have the same stop to tip distance as the original.

*The bolt head on the 700 is a separate part, pinned and brazed into the bolt body. Its rear end is inside the bolt body and it is there that the dry fire stop hits to stop the firing pin forward movement.
