My 995 shoots several inches to the left of the bullseye at 50 yards. I haven't fired it in a while and I stupidly didn't measure just how far off it was, but the rounds were hitting the very left edge of the paper. The grouping was fine, just 6+ inches to the left.

I think the front sight might be canted to the side because it doesn't look like it lines up. I don't have the rifle in front of me to measure, but how should I adjust the sights?

I mean, is there a way to adjust the front sight enough to make up for that kind of discrepancy, or should I send it off to the company?

My guns all shoot straight so I have no experience adjusting sights. Thanks.

Thanks for the advice but that's really not what I'm asking. I like the gun and plan to keep it. Please keep Hi-Point bashing to a minimum.

The stock rear sight is fully windage and elevation adjustable. I would start there. If too much is needed, adjust the front sight first.

RippinSVT, get one and try it before you bash them.

Sounds like you just about have it dialed. I just bang the front site on the bench to adjust it, no need for tools.

Its just going to fall off after a few hundred rounds.

Anyone want to buy a 4095?

There are a couple of set screws under the base of the front sight block. Loosen those, tap on the sight a bit, re-torque and give it a whirl at the range.

Remember...move the font sight OPPOSITE of the way you want the bullets to impact. (I have forgotten that more times than I would really like to admit....)

I think I know why your sight fell off. o_O

Anyway, thanks guys. So I should move the sight to the left to move the group to the right?

Exactly...move rear sight the way you want bullet impact to move, front sight in OPPOSITE direction of desired impact.

I used a laser bore sighter to adjust my sights. I centered the rear sight to start. Then I used the front sight to to make the adjustments so that the red dot was right on top of the front post when looking through the sights.

Doing it this way allows me to use the full range of the rear sight to fine tune the final adjustment.

You'd move the rear sight to the right to move the bullet impact to the right, and left for left. It's not hard, just bring lots of ammo and have a good time while you're figuring it out.

And to hell with the Hi-Point bashers, this is how my 4095 performed right out of the box, the very first time I shot it. 50 rounds at 10 yards.

No sight adjustments whatsoever, a dark indoor range, black sights against a black target, and old, scratched-up glasses that I could barely see the sights with. I put a piece of masking tape on the front sight blade so I could see the dang thing.

Now I have a red-dot sight on it, and it just keeps getting better! It was cheap and it's ugly, but it's never faltered and shoots like nobody's business.

Amen. I love the Hi-Point carbines. Mine runs like a top. The sights are the only thing that needs improvement. Thanks guys.

"50 rounds at 10 yards."

Yep, damn near as good as my XD40 pistol at that range. :uhoh:

But hey, your front sight hasnt fallen off yet.

Seriously, nearly new 4095 with custom muzzle break, new rear sight and reciever cover (Dont ask) $220 shipped.

I wasn't trying to start a fued, it's just that my buddy bought a Hi-Point Carbine and the damn thing basically fell apart after 2000rds.

RaisedByWolves.. would ya believe I paid $60 for mine? I asked at the local pawn shop if they had any 995s and they said they had a broken one in the back, cracked firing pin or some such. I told them about Hi-Point's lifetime warranty and they just told me they'd sell it to me at cost and let me deal with it.

Sorry, had to brag. Hahaha.. I'd be tempted to buy yours, but I'm actually trying to avoid buying a gun chambered in .40 cal. I already have too many calibers, and if I'm gonna upgrade from 9mm I want .45. :-D

RippinSVT: Hi-Point has a lifetime warranty, no matter if you're the first owner or the hundredth. Just have your friend send it to them. Mine came back with a brand new stock along with the mechanical repairs, and they sent me two magazines and a sling to compensate me for shipping.
