I know this post is coming in a little late for Christmas time , but I thought it might give some of you some holiday cheer.

Two holiday blasts from the past. ( The colt one is really great :) )

From the 1940 Montgomery Ward winter catalog.

A couple of years ago, I was looking thru a local newspapers' archives for a picture of myself and my brother, taken back in the mid-70's. Their archives were just original copies of the paper, all bound up into huge books.

Anyway, while looking for the picture, I could not help but marvel at the ads for Woolworth's and Montgomery Ward, which advertised lever action 30-30's, on the same page as ladies panty hose.

How far we have fallen...

I can see it now.. a Christmas advertisement in the paper for Walmart selling Savage 273 bolt combo rifles.. never see that!!

before xmass cabelas was running a series of ads on hartford area tv stations. featuring 22 rifles at $99 & 119 and assorted shotguns.
rather could not believe what i was seeing.

What a great thread!

I remember going to the neighborhood Holiday gas station in the mid '70s buying my first "real" gun with my dad after seeing a sale ad on TV during a Vikings game.

It makes me smile just thinking about it.
