I wish everyone the absolute best holiday this year, even those that are over here. I volunteered for this tour but still miss my family and friends the same. Even as I have my BIAs to keep me company it is just another day here for everyone (although chow is supposed to be stunning).
I want everyone to know that there is a big wave of optimisim over here now that has been absent for a couple of years. The Iraqi people are tentatively taking over and the end is in sight even if it is a ways off. In the history of human politics a domestic democracy has almost never been beaten by an insurgency and this one will likely not the execption to the rule. My Christmas wish is that there be many more soldiers spending time with their family next year than this one.
For those of you that don't support the war I wish you a Merry Christmas also (or Happy Holidays as you wish) and thank you for supporting freedom by your disagreement. It proves our system works. Best wishes to all and "God Bless us everyone".
