Hey folks, just a quicky.

How would you guys rate the Advantage Arms .22lr conversion for Glocks?

Since for one kit I could buy a NIB Ruger 22/45 or a used Browning Buckmark I'm skeptical though.

So if you had to choose between the two what would you pick?

Thanks!

I just found the only Glock 17 Gen 4 advantage arms conversion kit for sale. I should have it in 5-6 days.
I'll let you know how it works.

I feel the Glock conversion kit is worth it for me. I wanted a kit to work with the gun I compete with. This way everything feels the same and I have the same trigger and manual of arms. If you are just looking for a plinker I'm sure there are better .22 autos that are more accurate and reliable.

My FIL has an AA kit for his G21, runs well with ammo it likes, but it is finicky.

I was thinking of getting a kit for my G19, but stumbled on a MkIII 22/45 as part trade...it has eaten EVERYTHING I've put in the mag, Fed bulk, thunderbolt, CCI, PMC moderator, random "*** did that come from" floor sweepings....I'm pretty impressed. To top it off, I don't think it's been cleaned ever...buddy that I got it from shot it with a suppressor for a couple of K, traded it to me dirty..I've been too lazy to take it apart, couple squirts of oil and blast away...( I really do need to clean it though, usually don't treat my stuff that way ).

My only dislike is the mag disconnect safety, which a $10 bushing will fix.

I would add, how you are planning on using it would come into play....cheap plinker, or "full size trainer"....if it's cheaper shooting for practice with your FS gun, the AA kit makes more sense, same trigger/frame ect...

It does depend on how you plan to use it.

If you want to become more proficient with your CF gun or train someone else to handle that platform, there really is no substitution for the conversion kit.

If you just want something to plink around with, or just want another gun, the dedicated platform is an easier route

Got the Advantage Arms conversion kit for my Glock 30 last year. Works great. Like Coolluke01 said "everything feels the same and I have the same trigger and manual of arms".

Of 22 conversions, if you need accuracy, only the Marvel Unit 1 1911 conversion is capable of bullseye-level accuracy. While any Buckmark or Ruger MK-series is also capable of suitable accuracy. I have an AA kit for the 1911 and the accuracy was acceptable as a training aid but not good enough for competition.

As others have said, different uses for the different platforms. I have an Advantage Arms conversion for my Glock 19. It's great for training with the same grip, trigger, etc. It's not overwhelmingly accurate, and it's ammo picky.
My dedicated .22 pistols are more accurate, have better triggers, and are more intolerant of different ammo brands.
I use both, depending on what skills I'm trying to practice, or if I'm just enjoying myself shooting.

I have several. Two for my G19s (one with a threaded barrel), one for my 1911, one for my G20, and for a G27. They work very well. I can teach my kids to shoot on any of my platforms. You can train on your edc weapon for pennies. The only thing is use good ammo. I would recommend them to anyone.

I have one for my G17 and G19 (both Gen4) and they work great with Remington Golden Bullets. My preference is to standardize on platforms so I prefer using a conversion kit over a different platform.

Tuj, the AA kits were made by AA under the direction of Bob Marvel. Their competition model is exactly like the Marvel unit. Can't remember which one locks back on last round. Bob left them a few years back and went back to building dearly priced (and worth it) 1911s. Recently he has hooked up with Nighthawk and, I think, STI. Nighthawk sells his top conversion and he has "developed" a spring system that lasts over 10,000 rounds.

I have the G17 AA kit. Runs well. Provides truly applicable manual of arms training. The Ruger or Buckmark will be just a fun plinker. Sold my Buckmark when I bought my AA kit.
