I just got a brand new Advantage Arms conversion kit for my glock 26 for Christmas. I finally went out with my girlfriend to go shoot it and it was shooting ok and then she's like "that's weird it felt like something hit me in the face". I fired it...and it did a double feed and i got the casing out and the bottom of it was exploded outwards. It looks like there may be a chip in the top back of the barrel. My hands were bleeding somewhat from it so not I'm unsure if I have to get my entire glock 26 inspected or not. Should it be ok to put the original slide and barrel on it or should I have the lower part looked at by a gunsmith? Any thoughts and/or comments? Thanks!

Please forgive the crappy cell phone pics:

kaboom

Not familiar w/Advantage Arms kit, but it looks like feed ramp too deep into chamber and/or out of battery condition. I doubt that any damage was done, but would be a good idea to have it checked out.

Show us the side of the casing opposite from the "blow out" and a shot dead on from the side of the casing showing the area above the rim.

Don't have them with me now, but the one with the actual blow out with a split open side has almost an expansion all the way around the rim of the case making me think it fired out of battery. I do have another casing though that just had where it puffed out on one side of the casing, with no expansion on the opposite side of the rim, making me think it was in battery but it had expansion out that little chip? Thanks so far for the help!

Looks like the case wasn't fully chambered when it fired from the expansion around the base. If you didn't clean the barrel like you should with a new pistol it may have been shipped with a rust preventative. That could have caused incomplete chambering after some powder fouling was added from the first few rounds. Make sure the recoil spring guide rod is clean and the spring operates smoothly without hang up.

Clean the parts well and check to see if it chambers your rounds and the action closes completely.

You don't say what ammo you are using but if its some type of hyper velocity round like Stingers, Vipers, etc. try some standard Hi Vel ammo ammo.

It was, remington golden bullets which were recommended by Advantage arms. Why do you say that?

Because I posted a link in the General form this weekend with almost the same results.. same ammo!

Can you get the lot number off the inside box flap and post it for everyone? Contact Remington ASAP like I did yesterday.

Xyas, here's a pic of my two AA G26 barrels. That notch at the top is supposed to be there. FYI: the extractor slots are different, the one on the right is newer.

Glad you didn't get hurt to badly. I would imagine that didn't hurt the frame and parts but if you don't know much about Glocks it might be better to have an armorer look at it. Can you post a pic of the frame?

Remington GBs are about all I shoot in my AA kits. No problems in over 9K rounds but I'll be watching now.
