Hey guys,
I am trying to decide between double-tap 115gr. or 124gr. 9mm rounds to put into an XDsc 9. The 115gr. produces more energy then the 124gr. Is there an advantage to using the 124 over the more powerful 115? thanks.

If you have fixed sights on the gun 115 grain bullets tend to hit higher on the target than 124 grain bullets.
I like 124s over 115s just because they group a little better in my pistols and offer better penetration over 115 grain bullets.

Loaded to the same momentum, heavier bullets are able to expand to a larger diameter and/or penetrate deeper, but have slightly less temporary cavity and less pressure wave effect. For the same energy, they're just plain 100% better, except harder recoil.

They may be more accurate than the 115gr.....let me explain. I had a Taurus Mil Pro that would shoot low with 115 grain, by switching to 124, then later eventually 147 grain, my POI came up with each increase in bullet weight. The heavier bullet took a little longer to exit the barrel and had a chance to "ride the recoil" a fraction of a second longer and therefore hit higher. 124gr. works best in my SIG. I'd also recommend matching bullet weights between your range ammo and your carry ammo. Don't shoot 115 at the range and carry 124, you'll get different results when your life depends on it. Find one weight that works and stick to it.
