Hey guys, i posted on here before when i bought my .380, but now i just bought my first shotgun, a mossberg 500 tactical marine. I also purchased the heatshield barrel with ghojst sights, folding stock (it came with the adjustable straight stock, sucks for shooting and it kicks) as well as the pistol grip forend mount and a muzzle mount for a light, i recieved the parts, but was curious as to whether i should attempt to install them all myself, or take it somewhere.

any help would be appreciated,

Thanks

First, buy ammo and go shooting. Repeat until deadly, then decide what your fine shotgun needs, if anything....

i already bought all the **** and went shooting mad,, just trying to get it add

hes saying shoot the gun AS IS alot before you attach all kinds of stuff to it, you may find a simple setup is the best

as for the question. its up to you. mu personal opinion. i take everything mechanical appart the day i get it. i cant stand not knowing it inside out ( just the other day i was able to tell soem one what type of screw is used in the safety, with out having held the gun in over 2 months

Pick up a longer barrel for clays. Great fun if you have the ability, and really trains you on reactions and moving targets.

When I bought my 590, I had visions of a really mean tacticool shotgun with pistol grip, heat shield and all that. I read a lot on this site, and tried to listen to what was said. After I got my Mossberg, I went shooting a few times and shot a few hundred shells to get acquainted, and I practiced loading and unloading with dummy shotshells.

I must admit that now I find harmony is in simplicity. The Mossy is just fine as it is. It's light and reasonably well balanced, and it fits me well. I can shoot 9 3" 00 buck shells as fast as I can without even a hint of pain and no bruising. Even after a seventy to a hundred shells in one afternoon. In a HD scenario, I want everything as simple as it can possibly be, and that includes having a very simple shotgun.

And now my Xmas gift to myself is the 28" ported barrel with accu-set choke, so that I can shoot trap with my brother in law next spring.

To answer your original question, if you have any mechanical ability at all, you will be able to replace your stock and install the heatshield yourself..
