I always wanted to cook up some 45-70 at about 500 grains and right below the supersonic mark. A suppressed Marlin Guide Gun would be a hoot!
Off thread topic, but...take something like the old .44 Automag, chamber it in a carbine with a 10-12" barrel, integrally suppressed. Load it with a 300, 325-grain slug doing 1,050 feet per second at the muzzle. Nice quiet thumper for whatever may need a thumpin'. Hell, you could even do it in a 16" levergun with standard rimmed .44 Magnum ammo and a custom suppressor.
