Ok, my eyes are officialy old, so I'm on a path I had never expected to follow. I'm going to scope my Redhawk .44 mag. I've had the Ruger rings for awhile- today I ordered a Weaver 2x from Midway, so I'm kind of committed now.
The gun will be used primarily on hogs, but the occasional coyote or bob cat may wander into the fire zone. Most shots are taken at 50 t0 75 yards with a few at 25 and 100 yards. I usually stick to 240 grain loads, but occasionaly drop in some 300 grains just for the h*** of it- never know when you might meet a bear (very unlikely in my space) but a good excuse to pump it up a little. I'm assuming that with the scope hold over/under is a bit more difficult.
So I'm looking for advice on what to do next weekend. Locktite, electrical tape? Anything I need with the Ruger rings and Weaver scope?
I there any way to bore sight a revolver?
Holster, case recomendations? I doubt my soft case will suffice any more.
How do I protect it from the weather?
Any general advice for an iron sight guy (handgun and long gun) starting to look through a scope (I'll probably be looking at my Mini 14 next)?
