Hey everybody, I'm new here and I wanted get some advice. I read a lot of the threads on here before and seems like everyone is pretty knowledgeable. So here goes my question, I'm debating on buying a new rifle and I've been lookin at the SOCOM and a Knights SR-15. My friend also has a Wilson Combat AR so that would be another option if I chose to go that route? I like the Knights but the SOCOM is pretty versatile as well it seems, so if any of you have any experience with any of these your advice would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Welcome here!

As for the questions, I have no idea what those guns are, I will let someone else help you!

Other than giving you opinions of whether or not they like a rifle, I think everyone will pretty much want to know what you want to use the rifle for before giving you advice (ie home defense, hunting, target practice, etc).

Yes what purpose, how many rounds a week, month, or year do you plan to shoot. Most ARs will work for the occasional shooter/hunter and never give a moments problem to their owner. Also at the top of the page in the search section click and type in socom or SR-15 and see what has been written both pro and con about the individual weapons you are interested in. It only took me "like forever" to figure that out but there really are some good early threads on many different weapons and subjects.

Welcome aboard and enjoy; there really are some great knowledgeable individuals here.

Thanks, I actually frequent the range VERY often and I am constantly plinking in the yard and what not. I really have no actual need for it just a want. I have owned multiple ar's but I am quite fond of the KAC. The SOCOM is also appealing as well and I just wanted to see if anyone had any gripes or complaints about either. I appreciate it

Unless you're doing something a little more technical or demanding than plinking, pretty much any flavor/brand of AR is going to suit you just fine. Personally, I'd go with a name brand, mid-range AR and spend the rest on ammo.

Yeah I thought that too, I just sold my LMT rifle that I'd had for a few years wantin a 308 but I got to lookin at the KAC and I liked! SOCOM is cool too though, I got a "tactical" type range setup on my land behind my house where me and some ex-army buddies go run MOUT and just play. Its really pretty cool just stayin honed on my skills. i got a couple small buildings set up and lots of standup silhouettes.

I guess Im really just wanting something that I can do pretty much anything I wanna do with. Thats why I liked the Knights, its accurate, lightweight, good trigger etc. SOCOM is also a well rounded, multi-purpose rifle.

Well, you can do almost anything with pretty much any basic AR as well. They're all pretty modular. If the mods already present in the Knights or SOCOM work for you, go for it. Otherwise, you might end up with a cheaper, better-suited-to-you rifle by going cheaper and building to spec.
