So, for me it happens only a few time in my life.

I am going to a major gun show in Virginia and actually have a fair amount of money to spend on a rifle.

I want to buy a VERY NICE lever action. I am open to any brand and practically any caliber, though I am especially looking for .44 mag, .45LC, etc.

I am considering a .30 - 30 Ackley Improved also, if anybody knows anything about that.

I will use it for deer, camping, plinking, casual target shooting, and fun shooting. (tin cans, etc.)

My preference is strongly towards a rifle in a western style (no Monte Carlo stock). I would prefer a 16 or 18 inch barrel. Stainless or black is OK. I will NOT mount a scope on this rifle.

If you have any advise that will keep me from doing something dumb, please feel free!

THANKS!

Everybody has their own opinions. Lots of nice levers out there, but if you have the money there is nothing on God's earth more beautiful than a Uberti 1860 Henry, followed closely by the Winchester 1873.
