I've made the move to and shoot quite a few long guns in either straight walled (non bottleneck) or calibers that can shoot cheap pistol bullets. 357max, 38/357, 35rem, 9mm

For the shooting I do it really cuts costs and streamlines my reloading process.

I am liking the Winchester 1892. I'd have to get that large loop removed, and a short stroke kit installed.
That might be the best thing to do actually. Just get rid of some guns I don't really shoot any longer along with some music equipment from my studio, and just buy a 1892. Replace the large loop, and install a short stroke kit with a trigger job. I'd have more fun with that rifle than with any other that I can think of. I really enjoy loading for my .44 Magnum and shooting my SBH in .44 Magnum.
Come to think of it, getting rid of my bottle neck hand loading accept for .223/.25-06, and I'd be in heaven. I can't stand loading bottle neck cases.

Eb1,
I gave my Win M92 44-40 to a friend, and to replace it (not planned) I picked up a new 20" bbl Rossi M92 carbine in 44 mag. Some like the Rossis, some vilify them, but for $425 out the door, I am tickled pink. I had to clean the action thoroughly with carb cleaner, then flush it with an aerosol lube to get it to feed, but now it's jam up. I have a SBH in 44 mag and I load the same rounds for both (240 JH/SP) and accuracy and fun is superb. Don't rule them out unless you're flush & a Browning M92 is within reach... ;)
Cheers,
George J.

On another thread I have started a new project. I am sending the rifle to become a 445 SuperMag.
Although the cost of the conversion is less than the Rossi. That does sound like a great option and companion to the SBH. I was thinking it would be neat to have a 445 SuperMag on a 336 action. It'd definitely be a deer getter, and a talking piece around the campfire.
