Age of a Smith 64-5?

Anyone know the approximate age of a square butt, SW 64-5, serial number beginning with BNR?

I picked one up today and could not be happier; just trying to figure out how old the girl is.

Only info I have indicates it is newer than 1977.

I am sure someone else will have better info than I do..

Model 64's were made from 1988 to / inclusive 1997. Look on the bottom of the grip frame and read us the letters and numbers. It will probably be 3 alpha characters followed by some numbers, if that is the case all we need are the alpha's; if it is a number followed by a "K" and then some more numbers then give us the first number followed by the alpha "K" and 3 or 4 more numbers. The latter method is a bit easier to date the 3 alpha's are not all listed in the SCSW and sometimes fall in a gap. P.T.
