AIM surplus trigger and light weight BCG

I would like to hear of anyones experience with AIM surplus SSTAT trigger and/or their light weight nitride 9310 BCG. I am wondering if they are a good buy because they are very reasonably priced and 100% USA made is always a plus. I have been doing business with AIM for several years now and have always had good results but have never used their parts. Thanks for any input!

Why do you want to run a light weight bolt carrier?

Unless you’re running a very specifically ported barrel or an adjustable gas block, a light weight carrier is not your friend. More specifically it’s not your bolt, extractor, cam pin, and recoil spring’s friend. Making unlocking happen sooner in the cycle before pressures have dropped off is generally not desirable.

The SSTAT Trigger just looks like a Rise Armament RA-140 trigger. I believe someone on TOS confirmed it was. A lightweight BCG only makes sense in certain applications, but if that is what you are after the AIM should be gtg. I would also suggest looking at the one Right To bear sells, I have heard a lot of good feedback on that one specifically and it's right around $100

I have the AIM lightweight BCG with the NIB finish in one of my lightweight builds with a mid-length gas system . It runs great.

Like @Coal Dragger said, you want to make sure you get your gas adjusted correctly (adjustable gas block) as dwell times are important on locking lug life.

Not the Aim BCG, but I'm running a Brownells lightweight BCG (lighter than the AIM unit) and a gutted carbine buffer that weighs next to nothing. The gun is a 4lb, silenced AR pistol. An adjustable gas block is a must when using lightweight reciprocating parts. Mines only open a few clicks from closed, giving me a good ejection pattern and .22lr esque recoil. I cant imagine how hard the thing would cycle with full gas! As for the AIM trigger, its just another OEM type cartridge unit that have been floating around for the last few years in the $100 range. Personally, I'd go with the LaRue trigger, in the same price range.

That rifle is my Spartan lightweight build. I bought the Spartan sword just to take that picture.
