hey I have a walther g22 rifle. wanted a good scope with illuminated reticle. but had to have great eye releif because of handle mounting requirement. I decided to go red dot thinking aimpoint compc3 anybody have any experience with one or any comments looking for some REAL opinions not them advertising on there web sight. thanks guys

As one who deals (disclosure) I have used them extensively, and have been able to compare them (all the Comp series sights, including the C3) to EOTech and Trijicon at the range and in the field in various conditions. They're all very good sights, so it comes down to personal preference and priorities. A few examples: For moving targets the EOTech has a slight edge because of the dot-within-a-circle reticle, but in some cases it may sit up too high for an ideal cheekweld. Similar issue with the Trij Reflex and Reflex II, but their lack of a need for electricity makes them ideal for long-term standby use. Aimpoint's new ACET sights, however (including the CompC3) can be left on for years at a time, so the battery issue has been effectively eliminated. Change the batt once every year or three and forget it - leave it on. They can all mount high enough for use on an M4, etc., but for the lowest possible sight axis (a priority on some rifles. Maybe on the G22 but I don't know) the Aimpoint is king, along with the Trijicon Tripower.

I've also heard good things about the Zeiss and the Leupold-- not to leave them out, but my experience is with the three aforementioned brands.

Bottom line is you absolutely cannot go wrong with any of the major brand reflex or holo sights, so it comes down to minor preference issues. Within the Aimpoint line, certainly, the CompC3 is about the best value in terms of optical performance for the money.
