Discovered two new tricks that may be on interest to some other airgunners.

Adjusting objective on a pistol scope:

With the purchase of a pair of strap wrenches, I was able to easily loosen the objective lens cap/carrier of my Simmons Prohunter. It adjusts down to 4 yards, now, with a margin for error. It goes down to about 3 yards when the lens carrier unscrews, completely, letting the nitrogen out. Yep, oh well.

Mounting directly to barrel:

I bought a really cheap Crosman red dot scope with integral dovetail mount. On top of the already tall Crosman 1377 barrel mounts, the sight was ungainly tall and difficult to compensate on short targets. I discovered it clamps directly to the barrel of the gun. For reference, the OD of the 13xx barrel is 0.435". The clamp reaches just past the halfway point of the barrel, fastening securely, if you remove the battery cover to allow clearance. If you've got a skinny-barreled gun and some clunky optics inter-mounts, maybe you could give this a try with some of your dovetail rings/mounts.
