I'm looking to get into airsofting and have narrowed down my choices between and A&K M4-S and a D-Boys S-System. Does anyone know anything about these guns? Particularly the latter since there's not much info about it on the net.

I've searched everywhere and have joined multiple airsoft forums, but for some reason, no can give me a straight answer. From my experience so far, the airsoft community doesn't seem very friendly/open. Luckily, I'm more interested in plinking than skirmishes....

Living in California, a metal airsoft is the closest I can get to an AR. It's just something to keep me occupied until I can move an purchase a real one.

As always, thanks for the info.

Both are budget guns and don't have metal recievers as far as I know.

If you want a gun with as much metal and the same weight as the real thing, look at ICS and G&P. If you want a replica you can't tell from the real thing even if you line them up next to each other, you'll be wanting a Systema, though they're rather pricey. I'd go with the ICS, but even that is like twice the price of what you're looking at now.

I've not heard of those specific makes before (just looked them up on the net quickly) but but there's a lot of very good budget guns coming out from China and the like now. Most are copies of Toko Marui guns, so I'd make that something to look for. Avoid American guns, last time I heard anything about them they sucked - stick with south east Asia. I know UTG are good but I don't think they have an AR out yet... Also check the muzzle velocity and avoid anything under 260. The A&K one is 265fps (or 280 on the shorter version, bizarely) which is the same as a standard Toko Marui. I should think they'll be good enough, but the fit and finish won't be great and there won't be much metal.

Be wary of anything labeled "Boys," Tokyo Mauri - one of the leading producers - has a "Boys Series." They are very acurate, very well made, "budget" AEGs... However they are about 75% the size of the "real steel."

Lots of firms in China and SE Asia make carbon copies of the Tokyo Mauri product, with sound alike names, and much lower quality. UNfortuatly, many retailers have zero clue, and think the miniature sized AEGs are acurate.

Either try before you by, or order through a reputrable dealer online. I recommend Redwolf.

Some of the ACM (All Chinese Made) guns are good.

The AGM MP40's meant to work better than the TOP one, and it's full metal.

I'd recommend looking at Classic Army as well as the others recommended, though if you're looking for a "realistic" M4gery, look at Systema. Pricey, but worth it, from what I've heard.
