Airsoft for Dry fire practice? Where can I get what I need?

The biggest problem I have found with most Airsoft guns I've tried is that they are just not accurate enough to practice with. They work great for weapon handling drills and dry fire. The triggers aren't as "pistol-like" as they could be but once you have the motions down, you can adjust to a real trigger.

With my cheapo peice of junk airsoft pictol, unsupported weaver at 10 yards, i keep it in 2". Good enough?

I used to play with a few friends, at 20 yards you did NOT want to stick your head out.

Other than that weaver part :)neener:), that sounds mighty fine. I never saw anything like that though, even with an improvised rest. These weren't my airsoft pistols and I'm not well versed in them, so I could have been using the really crappy ones (my luck) but it didn't inspire confidence. Might have to look into it again, as a cheap practice option would be appreciated right now.

Which cheapo pistol would this be?

I have a KSC/KWA Glock that will do 1" at 4 yards. I shoot 1" dot targets and can keep all rounds on the dot.

for those with accuracy issues, you can look for tightbore barrels, manufactured by systema, pdi, etc. Look around airsoftgi or airsoftatlanta. I put a pdi 6.01mm in my kwa glock17 - it increases the distance+power and tightens the groups a good bit (depends how bad the old one was).

If you get a western arms one, those are supposed to be the most accurate out of the box. Unfortunately, I think they only make 1911s and m4s.

Why is everyone talking dry fire w/ real gun OR airsoft? Umm...just use both. The majority of your home practice should probably be dry fire w/ your firearm. Practicing drawstroke and trigger control with your carry gun.

Airsoft practice will tie in with that by providing feedback and allowing you to shoot at realistic targets in your home (can buy/make 3d targets and clothe them) as well as FoF training.

There was/(still is?) a high level IPSC competitor who practiced with only airsoft for 11 months out of the year in Japan, then came to the US 1 month before the match to shoot his firearm. He did quite well.

Never use BB guns for FoF. Airsoft uses plastic pellets and BB guns use metal. They are not designed to be shot at other people.

There's nothing like feedback to know how my aim was.
Some of these are really inaccurate though. Make sure your's is accurate.
Will one bullet suffice or will it get ejected after each fire?
Rimfire snap caps don't last very long, and you have to rotate them. I'm not sure I've shot enough with regular snap caps to give any advice.

Do the BBs have enough impact to make a neat little hole and go in the box?
From some guns.

This is a crossman of some sort, wally world $40... As a note, with the high end guns, DO not use .12 gram bbs, and expect good accuracy. I can hit a man size target (my friends:D) out to 30 yards 90% of the time with mine, but only using .2 gram and heavier bbs. With the light ones, i am lucky to get a hit at 20 yards on a person. They just go everywhere, and the slightest wind makes them go crazy. My airsoft crazy friend even got a rifle airsoft, that, shooting .4 gram bbs, could hit you at 100 yards! (still hurt pretty bad, but after that, accuracy dropped of rapidly)
