i live around atlanta, i wouldnt think the people involved were gang bangers like earlier said because of that area, just dumb kids. i saw this on the news last night and wasnt surprised by the description of the gun from the officer, atlanta cops are not the brightest we have in the state. APD will higher anybody that walks in the door, they cant keep staffed

I for one am delighted: my Saiga just arrived at my friendly neighborhood FFL; I'll be picking it up later this afternoon. It's that much cooler knowing it's a WMD. :D

The campbell guy did accually say something intellegent

Quote:
Campbell said. It's just not too wise to pose with them when they are loaded.
Actually, if one were to follow the 4 Rules of Gun Safety like you're supposed to, getting your picture taken with a loaded weapon would be no more dangerous than any other pose for a picture.

It's just a shame for these kids that none of them were taught the 4 Rules like they should have been.

A similar kind of article was just published locally. There was a ND with an "AK-47", undue attention placed on what the rifle was, and there was misuse of the term assault rifle. I find it suspicious that both tragedies were reported in the same way in multiple newspapers. The media must have a template for these things.

Luguberos. I read that one about the brother who shot the brother the other day. It is a shame because he did not follow one of the 4 rules. If he had, his brother still would have been alive. I have been close to a situation like this and it ended up tearing the family apart. A close friends son shot And killed his sister. Last time I saw my fiend was about 22 years ago. He just disappeared.

This article (primarily the people in it) is just loaded with idiocy. Where to begin...

Three friends who were goofing around in an apartment with a loaded AK-47

Paging Darwin.

Authorities do not yet know what caused the rifle to discharge once.

If I had to guess, it wasn't Rule #3.

"It's considered a weapon of mass destruction,"
"It's known to go through a few walls."

A) Considered WMD by who?
B) So will my fist, .22, and about anything else. Drywall is no solid barrier.

The boyfriend, 18-year-old Wallace Thomas, has been charged with assault and battery. The charges, Campbell said, could be upgraded if Grant's condition worsens.

Bad idea, IMO, unless the injured decided to press charges. It was an accident, although a very stupid one. This kind of thing gives me the impression that they're pressing charges more for PR than for actual justice.

It is not illegal for some people to possess the rifles, Campbell said. It's just not too wise to pose with them when they are loaded.

Posing with loaded firearms is just fine if you follow the rules. Just make sure you don't put your finger on the trigger, muzzle sweep anything, etc. I wouldn't do it, but it's not inherently dangerous.

Wow what idiots. An AK-47 is not a WMD its a firearm...There were lots of honda civics made last year but they dont seem to classify themselves as WMD'S...BTW bragging you have a WMD is not such a bright idea person who posted earlier.

I would assume that the owners of the rifles were gangbangers???? Thats how I would take it after reading the article

Why would you assume that? Because they were posing with guns?

Go check out the "faces of THR" thread and see how many people are posing with guns.

A dumb as goofing around with a loaded AK is, I'd say the Red Foreman award in this mess goes to the cop who can't tell the difference between a rifle and a tacnuke.

1. An A.K. 47 is a "weapon of mass destruction"
2. They didn't find any "weapons of mass destruction" in Iraq.

therefore.....

3. There are no A.K. 47's in Iraq.

Shoulda read the whole thread - others made my point already - and more cleverly I might add.

Vtoddball - Hinder productive discussion? Or "Hind end her" productive discussion?
