Some friends and I want to make some AK-74's but it would get a little expensive to buy several receivers and ship them all. One of my friends has a steel press, so we were thinking about getting one pre-formed receiver, and buying flats for the rest and using the measurements from the one preformed receiver to make all the remaining ones, any ideas here? Are the press and all the flats all I would need, or am I just way off here and it's just one piece I need? Any help you guys would offer would be more than appreciated.

After getting a bending jig, riveting tools, and all the other special tools to roll your own, you will probably end up spending more, trust me. Just order your receivers from Nodak Spud and be done with it.

You don't have to buy the premade one, you can download the blueprint , Hell I saw one somewhere that was prepunched and even had the blueprint printed on the flat. But like zoom said, you need a break and riveting jig and those special tools, cool to have and make if you are going to do a few, but consider, $40+ for the flat, ~$150-200 for the parts kit, and tools+labor, or $300 for a new siaga?
