"I'm cleaning an AKM after around 2k rounds"

You need to clean AK's? I thought they were dependable!

Next think ya know, they will be telling us ya shouldn't be shooting 5.56 NATO through 7.62 ComBloc guns!!!
You shouldn't, but I think I have done it. Don't try it.

2000 rounds.

Simple Green, tooth brush, wire brush, steel wool for the gas piston, and a water hose. Apply Simple Green liberally, let it soak and scrub. After rinsing with hose, set out in the sun to dry. Clean bore and oil as usual.

I've found that bore tech eliminator works quite well in barrels. However, I'm out of clp and would like to know if this solvent can remove fouling from the bolt carrier, gas tube, bolt, etc.
Joking aside, yes. BoreTech will clean fouling, and better than CLP to boot. A toothbrush is great for loose stuff, and be sure to displace the BoreTech with oil once done.

Da- then poor wodka down bore. This is the end bullet comes out of, yes?
I thought you were supposed to consume the vodka, recycle it into an aqueous ammonia solution, then use that to clean the gun.

The one time I cleaned my wasr, I used CRC brake cleaner, and a GI toothbrush.
A few drops of 10-30 on pivots, and 50/50 STP/10-30 on sliding parts.

Be careful here, the Russians like to fill radiator with diesel fuel in cold weather when antifreeze is scarce. Apparently, it works pretty well.
That. . . is. . . gah

Looking at the boiling point of diesel, I'm shocked to say that might actually work. Heat transfer will be lousy, but it won't boil or freeze in most engines.

Along with tooth brushes do any of you use a dental pick when cleaning firearms?
I’ve been using one for a long time.

Being under pressure in a sealed system helps keep it from boiling as well, not to mention the inherent lubricating properties of diesel might actually be beneficial for the coolant pump seals......

Outside of bore tools, my cleaning kit is toothbrushes, qtips, a brass toothbrush, and various picks mostly formed from paperclips for specific functions.

I haven't met a bit off goo that a toothbrush couldn't reach that really needed reaching.

I only use a dental pick when cleaning my tooth!!!
On a happier note simple green is awesome on all my guns, dry and oil up after.
Happy shootin'JD

The Afghans would take a length of shoestring and tie a knot or two in it, dip in motor oil, and pull it through the bore once or twice a decade.

I’m sure what you have will work just fine. Don’t overthink it.

I like wooden toothpicks. Pointy, sharp and they don't scratch surfaces.

I just clean mine like I do my AR. Only exception is corrosive ammunition which I have quite a lot of.
