I was wondering what the difference between the various Ak-47's was. I knbow the wasr's have a mag well issue, but not sure. I had one the had an underfolding stock. but my step-dad sold it. wondering what kind that is as well.

Look at the left side of the page for Russia. Under Russia you will see AKxxx. There will be about 10 all very different with different models and accesories for each. There is also technical information there.
If that's not enough info, find a copy of Kalashnikov: The Arms and the Man by Edward Ezell. Collector Grade publishes it, and you can probably get a copy on interlibrary loan from a military academy. It is pretty much the last work on AKs, at least until something better is written. It covers a massive number of variations, prototypes (like the original 7.62x41 caliber), and accessories. Like all the Collector Grade books, it's an incredible resource.
