Hi guys,

Can I center my AK front sight by just hitting it with a punch and maybe a rubber(?) hammer? I don't have a wooden dowel. I have a mojo sight now and it is zeroed but you can kind of see the front site wing through the peep site and it is distracting. Since the mojo is adjustable I want to center the front sire and re-zero it.

Mojo sights on an AK is a huge improvement!

Thanks,

Dan

I'm using an ultimak mounted red dot. Best setup you can use IMO. I thought about the mojo, but decided to spend quite a bit more on a red dot setup.

B Square makes the best AK/SKS sight tool out there. You can leave it on the gun as you adjust (windage, you need to take it off to adjust for elevation). It allows for minute adjustments too.

Skip the cheap Chinese/Tapco type. I've actually bent them on guns with a stubborn sight barrel.

If you dont like the front sight being of center when zeroed (it happens more than you might think), you can replace the rear sight with an RPK windage adjustable rear. That way, you just need center the front sight and the adjustment at the rear usually isnt as noticeable if at all.

I was never impressed with the Mojo. It doesnt work like an apeture sight is supposed to, and I find the stock AK sight faster and easier to use.

I too am a big fan of the Ultimak/red dot combo (Aimpoint for me). Its really the best way to go for the AK. With a low ring, your iron sights are also always available through the tube.

That's great to hear the mojo works for you. The original AK sights just don't give a very fine sight picture to be sure. Overall I'm pleased with that as most of our nations enemies seem to point AKs at our troops. For myself however, I, like you wanted a better solution. I went with LaRue Tactical's "Tactical AK Irondot" setup. I like it because it gives me red dot functionality in a very lightweight but rugged package with iron sight backup all for a fairly reasonable price. So far it has worked pretty well and made my AK shooting much more functionally accurate.

Thanks 45B, I am not to worried about scratching it as it already has a few. I just wanted to make sure it wouldn't damage anything. Who whould know better that you, right?

I do also want an ultimak and a red dot but my wife told me to get another AK and "make that one ugly", first. She likes the red wood. I told her that if I put that on then I would also have to go all the way with the front grip and a side folder stock.

Thanks a lot fellas,

Dan
