AK magazine quick release

Not sure how well either of those would work. In my experience with the dozen or so AKs I've shot the magazines often don't drop free when the release is pressed on. I've found that just knocking the magazine out with the next one I'm loading tends to work pretty well.

The standard release doesn't catch on things and dump your mag and works pretty good with your thumb or the edge of your hand.

But hey, what did the AK's (or the M14, G3, Valmet, Galil, or Sig 550) designer's know?

Don't listen to the BS about it being "different than designed" or it being "an AK... just scratch the hell out of it.... "

Get it if you like the idea of it. If you don't like it or it doesn't work, you're only out $20.

i have the second style on an unconverted saiga 5.45 . its better than the thumb killin stock tab. after its converted it im sure it will be more handy to reach at that point with trigger group moved up where its supposed to be. im looking forward to a non-shiddy trigger pull.:)

I'm not sure about the first one.

But the EMA Tactical, doesn't really allow for East German steel mags. The rib gets hung up and the process is slowed.

If the first one doesn't do that I would say go for it.

I just yank the mags out and then insert a new mag. At least that's what I do currently so I may change. Tantals have a smaller tab then most AK 74s I believe and I don't have a problem with it.

I tried the one in the first link.
That lasted less than a day and I removed it and threw it away.
It snags on stuff and bends all out of whack real easy.
I actually bent it to where it got stuck "under" the outside of the trigger guard.
It's a pure POS.
Don't bother.

Pass. Tacticool stuff is fun to buy and fun to look at, but if it's a fighting rifle, then leave it as is. Spend money on training and ammo. If it's a toy, then farkle away.

IMHO...

Yep, to install the mag catch you need a new $4 rivet.

The hard part is compressing the mag spring. There is a good trick for that and for setting both ends of herbs rivet w/o moving it.

I've never had a problem with the stick release.

Aren't you guys just knocking the empty mag out with the fresh one you're bringing up?

Yep.
But sometimes it's just fun to try new stuff out anyways if it's cheap.
Some of the other versions might work OK.....I dunno?
I only tried the first one and then quit....lol
