AK Primer

Ok, about the only thing I know about AKs are that the Chinese ones are junk and that some of them have thumbhole stocks or no pistol grip. I may be wrong on all accounts.

Can someone point me to a good resource where I can quickly decide what kind of AK I should be shopping for? I definately want a pistol gripped one, and I want it in 7.62x39.

I don't even know what questions to ask.

I hadn't heard the Chinese rifles are junk. Where do you come by this? Yes, some of them do have thumbhole stocks. As far as I know the only models without the pistol grip are the newer Saiga's.

Interesting since Chinese AKs are among the very best. They use thicker steal than the rest of the comblock stamped recievers and generally have the BEST stock AK triggers to be found. But, by all means spread this around more since it will help keep the price down for those of us that pay attention.

I probably should have included the "smart alleck" smiley with that last post. It reads a little mroe terse that it felt when i wrote it. I would recomend both the AK portion of ar15.com and ak47.net as pretty comprehensive sources for AK info. They both have forums dedicated to each manufacture of AKs.

C_Y, I understood it as you meant it. Thanks. There are some things I know about and some things that I don't. ARs, I know about. AKs, I don't.
