Just wanted to report on the replacement stock I got for my AK. I went with the Tapco T6. Yes, I know...this is not a rugged stock that I would want to have if the AK was going into a combat theater, but.... for range use/fun...for $40...good enough, as far as I'm concerned.

This stock completely corrected the length of pull issue I have with AKs. Removing the stock that came with the WASR 10/63 involved removing two screws then leveraging a large screw driver into the receiver and pushing it off.

Got the stock via Amazon.com

I did not use the little tiny screws supplied by Tapco, but instead drilled starter holes, with the supplied bit from Tapco and used the much longer/stronger original screws, had to use a power drill with a phillips head bit to get the necessary torque to get the screw countersunk, the front most one particularly, so that the spring and guide rod would go back into their original position.

Here are pics of the results:

I'm laughing because.....I cropped out my toes on the foot that was in the frame.

Sorry.

But, if it makes you feel any better, once posted a pic with me wearing my jammies. No, they were not footie jammies, though.

;)

How does it handle and shoot?

Don't know yet....I have to buy more ammo and get it out to the gun club.

I feel a session coming on, this Sunday.

Sorry, they are back. My server was down for a moment there. Must be the heat!

I think it looks weird, with that flat front stock. Then again, it could just be that there isn't a magazine in it.

That said, I have the same stock on my Saiga. I wouldn't take the stock to someone's head in a combat situation, but it works great for shooting so far.

Tossed a surplus rubber pad on it (like it looks like you did!) to stop the abuse from the harsh checkering on the back. My pad has more solid portions around the edge, though. Considering one of those Limbsaver AR pads.

And just to further horrify the AK purists, brace yourselves, I installed a Hogue grip on it!!

A tactical stock AND a Hogue grip? BLASPHEMY!! Next thing you know it will have a halfway decent trigger on it too! What is the world coming to?!

Nice gun. I have a Hogue grip on my Saiga 5.45. Best grip available for the AK... honestly I wish their AR grip had the same contour.

I don't have them in front of me but as i recall my hogue AR and AK grips do have the same countours. I think their angle is slightly different but pretty close aside from that.
