AK47 tactical firing stances?

I'm just gonna leave this one here.

Ummmm......ahhh.........yeah.

I do gotts to me a dingy grey wife beater and a paid of them OD speedos... range wear for the 21st century. Interesting video, distracting costume.

Recently some guy posted his website where he made instuction videos for the AK. I remeber he was demonstrating tactical reloads where he would use one mag to "flick" out the other before inserting the first. Does anyone know where I can find those?

I don't feel too bad about hijacking this thread since it is not very "high road" in the first place.

FourteenMiles, best one I've found so far is this; covers ordinary reloads, emergency reloads, malfunction clearance, transitions to secondary, etc.

Basic AK Manual of Arms

He demonstrates all kinds of techniques, but I strongly prefer charging with the left (support) hand from under the rifle when doing anything other than administrative loads, as does he. And in case you're wondering, this guy is older than he looks and he does know what he's doing; here's him shooting an El Presidente with a 7.62x39mm AK in 7.4 seconds, which is a whole lot harder than shooting a 7.4 with an AR due to the recoil. I've shot a 7.62x39mm AK in USPSA matches, and muzzle climb in double taps is a lot more significant than you'd think.

I had no idea that Officer Dangle was an AK enthusiast.

While he does demonstrate some decent balance, I'm left to wonder what possible advantage could be gained from firing a rifle while standing on one foot.

dunno about the speedo and tank top video, but the one with all the tac and empty gun reloads is pretty sweet. I'm pickin up my first ak tomorrow and will be watching that one again to practice all the techniques

You boys do realize thats a girl in that video, right? :neener:

I dont know that I'd want to have to deal with her either, she seems to be able to handle the rifle pretty well. Better than most of the "fat boy" experts I see at the range.

Wrasslin might be fun, win or loose though. :D

The boy in the video link Ben posted seems to have the AK basics down pretty well. Goes to show what you can do with a little practice. If the AK's detractors bothered to spend a little quality time with one, they might come away with a better understanding of what they really are.

Its so when you get hit by her and you tell St. Peter at the Pearly Gates you got killed by a one leg stance, roided up chick in a speedo he'll laugh and hit the reset button so you can go get your dignity back.

But hey, if you can shoot accurately like that, why not? It beats sitting on a bench all day.

I prefer the Middle-East Wedding Celebration stance.
You know the one with the AK-47 held over your head shooting straight up on full-auto!

Sure you may wound a few celebrants when all those bullets come back down in the crowd, but what the heck!

You only get married once!

Like I said, he's a bit older than he looks; I believe he is USN and his MOS is not combat arms (he was on the USS Gary/FFG 51 back in 2008), but I think he's been to more than a couple carbine classes, judging by his AR shooting.

There are a few other videos of AK manipulation on Youtube, but I think his is the most squared away.

As to the woman in the OP, I dare say she could probably kick the butts of most of us in this thread...

Doubtless. But if she ever means to kill me with her AK, she won't need to pull the trigger. She can just assume some of her "tactical" stances and I'll die laughing.

I think some of those drills/stances come from the Systema school of thought, which suggests that she's probably spent some time with Sonny Puzikas or one of his protogés (and the one-legged thing was just an experiment to see if it were possible to shoot one-legged, as she points out). Probably a poor choice of video title more than anything.

Systema certainly has its advocates, and Mr. Puzikas certainly knows his way around a Kalashnikov better than I do (heck, I own one of his videos), but I do prefer a more Western style approach to shooting and moving with the AK. Systema can be beautiful to watch, but I'm not sure it's very practical for average mortals. Like tai chi chuan, it's one of those things that can actually be effective if you devote your life to it, but it's not something that gets you up to speed quickly, at least from this outsider's perspective. I think the Magpul Dynamics style of riflecraft would probably be more effective for most people, IMO.

That one legged move requires one hell of a lot of strength and balance. Not sure I see the utility of it, but it looks cool.

very cool...there is no utility per say, it's about demonstrating that you are correctly grounded. If you lean into the recoil at all, it will knock you over. It's like the Tai Chi practitioner who can't be pushed off a spot..unless he tenses to resist the push

Technique differs for lefty's like me.
Not really a bad thing. Considering our support hand is on the same side as the charging handle we dont have to reach over or under the rifle.

Yes, that's a difficult position to hold, even without a rifle.

That said, just because something's hard to do doesn't mean it actually has any level of utility for practical situations.
