Osama bin Laden's al-Qaida terrorist network is once again warning of a major and imminent strike inside the U.S., according to WorldTribune.com.

The al-Qaida warning was relayed via the Tajamu Reform Party of Yemen in a statement proposing terms of reconciliation with the government which has been under pressure to cooperate with the United States in the war on terrorism, according to the report.

"A major strike, a big event will take place in America soon," the statement said.

And again, Bush will let it happen then pass more draconian laws such as the Patriot Acts. With each attack comes a more tyrannical grip on the people. Save us oh great gubment!

Bush will let it happen

then pass more draconian laws

So...how would you propose that Bush not "let it happen", pass more draconian laws first so he can just arrest everybody in the US?

Or does the Skull and Bones Society know specifically where and when the attacks will happen, and they are going to let them happen so they can gain more power. Or have the bin Laden and Bush families been working on this secretly for decades?

Nah, Ready

you got it wrong. OBL is obviously part of the International Zionist Conspiracy, in the pay Condi Rice and Paul Wolfowitz. Clever, these IZC people.

Why bother actually blowing something up when our reaction to a "threat" creats plenty of disruprion in our daily lives. The whole purpose of terrorists is to promote terror. With our nifty new alert system all they need to do that is a phone.

Al-Qaida warns of another big stike on the U.S. eh? So what do we as a society do? We wring our hands, pull our hair and dash about like panicky mice.

OK, I'm a simple guy, and tend to favor simple responses to such. Were I holding the Office of President, my response to this would be simple...

In a public address, I woudl state the following:

Al-Qaida and the Islamic world, mark my words. This must end, NOW. You have grivences, air them and lets work together to find a comprimise that everybody can live with. Attack us again, in ANY fashion, and your Holy Cities of Mecca and Medina will be wiped from the face of the planet, the Holy Land of Saudia Arabia will be closed and depopulated, PERMENTLY.

But then, I'm just a simple guy...

hey Sindawe ever thought....

of running for president?
maybe i' m a simple guy also, cause that sounds like my solution too.

Note for the simple guys. There are over a billion Muslims. If we were at war with ALL OF THEM then you would probably notice it a bit more in your daily lives. What you are advocating is like England nuking the Vatican next time the IRA sets off a car bomb.

if england had a pretty good idea that the vatican was paying the ira to set off those bombs, i'm not sure i would have a problem with that either, a terrorist is a terrorist if he lights the fuse or if he knowing pays someone to do it........

There are over a billion Muslims.

Where were all the good Muslims on September 12th when we saw a lot of Muslims dancing in the streets in several middle east countries? No more mention is being made of the "terror-thons" held in Saudi Arabia, raising money to support this scum. Why?

I'd like to think there are Muslims in the world who have a live and let live philosophy when it comes to Christians in general, and the US in particular, but the opposing Muslim voices to terrorist attacks, let alone any real movements to stop the terrorists has been pretty quiet.

I'm sure there are going to be posts here with a litany of "reasons" why we were attacked, but it does not square with the killings at the WTC.
The attack on the WTC was claimed to be an attack on our way of life.

I can almost understand the attack on the pentagon if they are against the US military, but what I see is mindless terrorism inflicted upon every day citizens.

Posters to this thread need to use the "narrow Al Qaida" paint brush and stay away from the "wide Muslim" paint brush.

Topics that primarily involve religion get nuked around here.

Remember everybody, the media has a bad habit of televising what they want you to see. Takes effort to find the rest of the story.
Al-Quata will attack again just after everybody quits paying any attention to anything Tom Ridge says. Probably July or August.

I'm not going to say that business ties, necessarily make for secret war treaties, but raise your hand if you think that politics is not related to business. The Bush family has been business partners with the bin Laden family since the late seventies, and junior nit-wit is still reaping the financial benefits of Saslem bin Laden's investments in Arbusto, which later became Harken, and is now Bush Explorations Inc. It is unknown whether the bin Laden family is still profiting from that investment or not. In considering 9-11 remember what the British said to the Americans who wanted representation for their taxes, qui bono? Who has benefitted from the attacks? Not you, not me, certainly not the terrorists. Not counting the millions made in stock trades after 9-11, only President Bush has benefitted. He has expanded the power of the presidency by a magnitude not seen since Lincoln and has conned Congress into giving him the power to, ahem, relieve citizens of the burden of citizenship, in order to more easily prosecute them. Hmm, qui bono?

The ones in my area could be found placing signs outside their mosque expressing solidarity with the rest of the country. Didnt stop a number of "brave" good 'ole boys from defacing their place of worship in the dead of night though. The signs went right back up over the lovely epithets the next day too.

c_yeager

That is terrible news, and I hope the perps have bad things happen to them because of it. To me, its never been about what name you call God, or whether you even believe in a superior being, or where you were born.

What counts is when you stand up for yourself and your neighbors, and that is the only thing which matters in the end.

MacViolinist, are you implying that Osama's actions mean that his father should be denied his business activities? I've heard of "The sins of the fathers...", but it's uncommon for the sins of the son to carried backwards toward a family's business. Wasn't Osama's father in the cement and construction business long before Osama went to Afghanistan against the USSR?

Backing up a hundred years or so, it was believed in the U.S. that "the business of government is business." (J.P. Morgan or someone like that.) With the increased involvement of government in business, there have been more and more people from the world of industry involved in our government. That's a normal human nature form of behavior: Protect what you have. I note that it's even more common in many other countries.

I just really doubt that any individual Bush knows much about any individual family member of a foreign business, when the companies with which they're involved enter into contracts/agreements overseas.

Art: That was Calvin Coolidge, 30th Pres of the U.S.

"The chief business of the American people is business."

Delmar: Exactly. I don't really care who or what anyone anyone calls God, if they kneel and pray to he/she/them/it or if they raise a horn of mead in praise to he/she/them/it. About seven years or so ago here in Denver, a couple of the local FM Rock 'shock jocks' organized a stunt where a marching band invaded a local Mosque and played "Good Bless America" and refused to leave when asked. The clowns ended up being canned because of it, and rightly so.

Mark Tyson: Not the first day. Maybe after a month or so, with the atmospheric detonation being a public event with ALL head of state and religions being invited to attend the demonstration of the power we as a species have in our hands, and how big of a mess we can make of this planet if we ALL don't play nice together.

I wish I could say the same. However, here in the Washington D.C. area, the reaction from area Muslims was limited to grudging acknowledgements from several local Mosques that they had provided shelter and money to several of the hijackers and a great deal of pointing out how U.S. policy towards Israel in particular and Arabs in general had brought on the attacks. I didn't see much in the way of expressions of outrage or regret from area Muslims over the attacks.

If the quality of the American people (including any sub-group thereof) were measured by the quality of those living in the Washington D.C. area none of us would measure up too well. I am of course not saying that ALL people in the area are a problem it's just that the D.C. area seems to attract some odd sorts.

Art,
I wasn't saying that anyone should be denied profits. I just find it curious that the perpetrator of the 9-11 attacks is from a family that has been in business with the Bush family for the past twenty-something odd years, and that as a result of these attacks, the only person to gain any substantial profit is President Bush. Oh yeah, and the Vice-president's company, Haliburton. I'm not saying for a fact that there is a connection, but I think there should be an investigation. I'm sure you know about operation Northwoods, so I won't bore you with the details, but it makes me raise an eyebrow, when coupled with the FEMA provisions that allow the President to suspend elections under certain circumstances, and that's just the FEMA stuff that isn't classified. Perhaps it's conspiracy theory, I don't know. I just think it should be investigated.
As far as the role of government goes, that's a different, and even more off-topic ;) discussion, so I'll save that for another time.

So you are saying that you think that "junior nit-wit" may have may been behind what would (if true) be the biggest criminal conspiracy in human history.
