My grandmother has always been a bit of an odd duck. God love her, but she's a handful. When she was younger, she carried crappy little pimp gun in .25 acp. As she started to become a little less sharp, my late grandfather took the .25 away from her. She bought herself a blank pistol. Now, my grandmother goes nowhere and has no need to have a carry gun, but I asked her why she even wanted to bother carrying an overblown cap gun.
Her answer was, "If an 85 year old woman pulls a gun on you, you probably aren't going to check and see if its real. If they manage to take it away from me and shoot me, I'm just going to fall down like I'm dead." Some cringy self defense advice there, but this was some years ago. My grandpa is no longer with us, but my grandma has made it to 92 and a half years and hasn't had to play possum once. She still has the little pop gun somewhere. The .25 left the house when grandpa passed. Wouldn't want her getting confused as to what she was pulling on us on one of her less than lucid days
