I've been on the hunt for a good trail holster for large revolvers for many years now. Traditional leather belt holsters, even with a big belt, tend to get annoying on the trail. Moreover they require that you either wear jeans or use an extra-tight uncle mike's belt. On a long hike I will frequently switch from jeans in the parking lot to shorts, then to poly once I gain elevation and the temp. drops. I do not like to have to deal with swapping my revolver and accessory belt whenever I do this.

Shoulder holsters for big revolvers also tend to require a connector to a belt. Not too many Miami style holsters are out there for really big revolvers!

Anyway the solution is here:

I picked up one of their 4" revolver holsters and I've been EXTREMELY happy with it. And I'm about as picky as they come, having gone through a good dozen alternatives. The holster has compartments for two speed loaders, and I've also put a traditional cartridge holder on one of the three support bands. In addition I was able to put my field knife and scabbard on the holster, riding right next to the revolver.

You can adust it to ride on the side or on the belly. You can also have it ride higher, on the chest. From the belly the draw time is VERY fast, yet the revolver is well protected and will not fall out. I keep adding more and more extras to it (more ammo holders, knives, tools, etc) and it adapts well. It has more than enough connectors to be hooked up to a backpack or whatever you want. Quality is excellent, and in spite of hard use at the compound no stitching has busted yet.
