The field grade M1 Garand from the CMP is currently the best deal going. $495 + shipping + membership fee. That's very, very hard to beat.

One of the reasons I bought a handgun caliber lever gun is that it's the only kind of CPX-2 100yd rifle that's allowed on the indoor pistol range where I shoot. Lots more opportunities to practice that way, and cheap ammo to boot.
