Allen nylon soft cases wear gun finishes?

I've started the process of waxing my firearms with car wax. Pure carnuba is what i use and 2 coats. Then I store them in the zip up cases so that i can stack them in the closet.

It's awesome to pick up a gun to handle and it not be all greasy and smelly.

Much ado about nothing!

You're in a temporary situation. Keeping your well-maintained, monthly oiled, guns in zipped up cases won't be a problem. You could keep this up for years. Not a problem!

I store pistols in gun rugs, but you do need to be careful about it. They can indeed absorb moisture on a humid day. I always leave them open inside the house for awhile to acclimate to the temperature change and give the moisture a chance to leave the rug. Even still there will be some moisture in the material. I always wipe down and or oil handguns before storing them that way. Never a problem so far.

Leaving them in a gun rug for years without checking them can be a recipe for disaster.

It will not wear the finish per se, as no abrasion (movement between the gun and case) is taking place. It might promote rust, depending on other storage conditions, e.g., humidity, temperature, air circulation or lack thereof. The absolute worst for rusting, in my observation, is a plastic case lined with foam.
