Alliant 300MP and 45 Colt

The title says it all. Anyone here loaded Ruger only level 45 colt using Alliant 300mp? I have been wanting to try it for a while now, so I bought a pound. Just wondering if anyone else has tried it, or am I going to be treading through unkown waters? I found zero load data on the net for it.

HANDLOADER magazine had a profile article on it a month or so back. Try getting ahold of the artice. I believe it had some data for the .45Colt.

That stated, the powder is very similar to Win296/Hod H110. According to the article, it may actually be the non-cannister grade WC-297 which is reputed to be Win296 with a flash retardant added.

You can either e-mail Alliant, or just use Win296 data with a 10% reduction to start.

Personally, I've never loaded H110 or Hod. Lil'Gun in the .45Colt. Unique, Universal, and #2400 have given me all the horse-power I've needed for the .45Colt.
