As you all know I'm continuing my Ruger leading quest. More on that later as Im about to the conclusion of that quest.

But today a very funny thing happened. Having determined a .360 boolit is what it takes to make my Ruger shoot without leading, I custom made a .360 boolit sizing die from an old 7/8" fine thread farm bolt.

Anyway I got it finished and it is producing .360 boolits just as planned. I have a 1 to 1 1/2" sizing lenght built into die. When I put the 2nd pan lubed boolit on the pusher and stroked the ram, the first boolit (still in die) shot out of the top of the die and landed on the reloading bench. Happens everytime!

So I was almost shot while sizing boolts!!!!

I may set up the chroni to check velocity!

Shhhh, keep this too yourself.

ATF will read this then come pounding on your door beacuse your sizer isn't registered as a firearm.

That, and the 1 1/2 length is likely too short to comply with the NFA or some other regulation

"...to make my Ruger shoot without leading..." The diameter of the bullet is not what causes leading. It's trying to drive a cast bullet too fast. And bolts are too soft to size anything.

You may need to build a cylindrical bullet containment system with a berm at the top to comply with indoor range regulations.

So tonight I sized some more boolits. Since I am lubing by the slow pan, melt lube and cake cutter method, sometimes 2 boolits would come out of cake cutter stacked. So I sized them double stacked.
Well now I am shooting 2 boolits at once with almost enough force to knock the lee red plastic tub top off.
Question: Do I have to pay an excise tax for making a machine gun?????? Two shots with one trigger pull?

No sir that's a shotgun.

No. You built the "machine sizer" before you filed the application, so you have an unregistered "machine sizer" :what:and the ATF will probably want to just lock you up. :cuss:

Seriously, I think what you described was incredibly resourceful.
