Between a Kel-tec SU-16 and an AR-15, which is an all around "better" rifle.
I'm not talking about a range beauty. I mean, an over the mountains, and through the swamps rifle. Which is more reliable, accurate, and carry able?

I have an AR, and am considering trading for an SU-16.
So..........................
Tell me what ya'll think..

Thank you all, in advance.

It'll be a step backward.

Before the panic you could get two SU-16's for the price of an AR.

I'd get a Saiga for your purpose long before the KelTec.

I agree with Chris. The SU-16 was designed as an AR-type rifle for people who can't afford ARs. Unless the AR you have is complete junk, you'll be downgrading.

If you want something that's lighter, and more reliable, and handles in a more conventional fashion, get a Mini-14. Again, depending on your particular AR, you may lose some accuracy. In a real world scenario, it won't be enough that you'll ever notice.

The only advantages the SU-16 has over the AR:
Size/Foldability
Weight
Price

A good AR will be more accurate, more reliable, and much easier to configure for anything you need.

If you're looking to carry it a lot, though, the SU-16 is VERY light and folds into a small package.

Keep the AR, life is good and be happy!

Last retail price on a SU16 was a little over $400 so unless your AR is junk what would inspire you to go with a cheap Kel-Tec? Granted just my opinion. I just don't see a Sport Utility Rifle being plastic (stock, receiver, and forend are manufactured of high-strength polymer plastic). However, if something like that trips your trigger then go for it. To each their own.

The SU-16 is a good gun, and like all Kel-Tecs, was designed with the parameters of innovation and light weight. And the SU-016 is both innovative and very light weight. But it is not a battle proven rifle, and is not as robust as an AR.

Tell me what ya'll think..

Repeat this step.
:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

till the thought of Keltec is removed from your brain...
