I am considering altering my 700 Rem bolt by replacing the Bolt Head with a Savage Bolt Head assembly. The one problem I am having difficulty with resolving is how to alter the firing pin to work with the Savage Bolt Head, or is there a replacement firing pin that will work with that configuration? Any help woul be greatly appreciated.
I know the first question is why. I have tried replacing the extractor on my 700 & the first one snapped while installing it & the second one bent & wouldn't extract at all. I'm not buying a third one & besides I really like the Savage configuration. I feel the Savage Bolt Head is a better choice than the Sako extractor & can be done for a reasonable cost as I can do most of the machine work on the Remington bolt. Maybe I can get some help from someone that has already tried this. Again, thanks for any info.
