IMG_1560.JPG IMG_1561.JPG IMG_1562.JPG I found 500 .224 Nosler Varmageddon BT for $65 and couldn't pass it up. I began loading them with cci 450 primers, same year LC brass and Benchmark powder and the beginning results were not that great and I was losing all hope for them. My OCD and seeing a buddy almost blow his hand and face off with an overcharge years ago I seldom go past 24gr because of the short throat (bullets being seated deeper) and 55gr V max usually gives me touching at 100 yards with 23-24gr of Benchmark so I always left it at that to be safe. Today I decided to load about 6 tenths from max and if I needed to pull any I would and I'm sure glad I did. Starting and medium charges were not all that great and wouldn't even touch each other until I hit 24.6 and I tell ya what I am amazed!!

I could only fire 4 shots cause I forgot to load 5. The two top targets are 24.6-25gr of benchmark. 4 shots in one ragged hole! If I didn't just say okay I'm doing a full workup I would have never found these two accuracy nodes. I am amazed how those two groups are!

Nice shooting ! All guns have some harmonics as the bullet goes down the bbl finding the "load" is half the fun.

Thank you!

I've got 55gr SP, 55gr Vmax and 50gr V max I need to push a little faster and see if they have the same result as above. :)

You are welcome, funny thing two of my loads ended up even with no tenths, makes them easy to remember.

I stopped at 25.2 and have yet to fire them. The club was having a benefit dinner and asked I be done by 5pm so I stopped when I ran out of dots at 440pm. I will shoot the 25.2 tomorrow and see what it does but I think I'm all set with 24.9gr. I may just round it to 25gr and see if there is any difference.

I had great results with the 55SP in my 20" AR, using Varget powder. I can get them for only about 1 to 1.5 cents more each than the normal 55fmj, so that is all I get now for cheap AND ACCURATE plinking loads.

I tried them with benchmark up to 24gr and didn't do too well. I have about 100 more I'm going to up the charge and see what they do.

In my case, the best results were with 26.5gn of Varget. Compressed load, the powder is halfway up the neck before I seat the bullets.

I had a Remington 722 in .222 Remington that didn't group well until at max or a little over. Took me a while to find that out! Wish I still had that rifle.
