I voted yes.

No, you aren't going to win any competitions shooting like that, but it looks pretty good to me. The grouping isn't THAT bad, and you are consistently putting the rounds close to where you want them. If you are shooting a badguy, you will hit him in the chest with all your rounds shooting like that, so I'd say that's pretty good.

I'll say "yes."

Then again, are there any of us who couldn't use improvement? :)

It comes with time. As mentioned, work on proper grip, keeping the front sight focused, and BREATHING. If you find yourself leaning back, or your hands are shaking, take a breath.

That said, I work at a range, and that's better than 90% of what I see. You're not doing bad at all. Keep it up, and you'll get there.

We all need improvement, but if you can keep a 10 round group in the black at the rated distance, I'd consider that good.

...

Hey Chrome, I gave ya the yes vote, based on if those were for SD/HD, IMHO, you're good to go.

Now, if it were for competition shooting, hmmm, not gonna take 1st place..lol

As long as you can aim and hit like that and, if your point-shooting is that good, then you can only get better with time.

Can't we all.. ?

At 21' you should have a ragged hole w/ that many rounds. You group will only expand as your target moves out farther...
Take the time to improve your basic technique & you'll be fine ;)

My 16 year old son did this group with a stock G17, Meprolight sights, poorly lit indoor range, 20 yards, 10 shots.

Considering his age and that the Glock 17 can hardly be considered a bulleye gun, I'd say it's not too bad. With a Ruger MkII, I'd expect him to do a little bit better.

Get a red dot. Oh wait, that's cheating...

It is not. :D At least not when you got eyes as old as mine are.

Ruger MK III, 22/45, red dot sight. 7 yards. Federal bulk ammo.

I doubt I could do as well as Chrome with open sights. I'm usually just happy to hit the berm.

As the others have said, we've probably all got room for improvement.

I'm not trying to be perfect with a .5" group every time. I'm trying to get my groups down to 2" groups.
A good shot tries to do his/her best each time they pull the trigger. That is the only way to consistently shoot small groups. You have to aim for the 0.5" group to develop the skill to shoot the 2" group. Then as your skill increase the group will shrink.

Most people including gun enthusiast are terrible shooters.

I would consider both of those targets above average but not anything that's going to win a shooting competition.

I'd consider myself a pretty good shot, I can put the shots where I want them to go most of the time. Of course some days are better than others.

I've taken enough shooting courses and invested enough time and money to learn how to shoot, I certainly hope at this point I would consider myself a decent shot.

100 rounds at 10 yards, first time shooting my WW2 era HP. This was the target in the back after stacking a few targets on top of it. Certainly not my most accurate gun, I can do much better with my 1911 but this is the only target picture I have so it will have to do.

In my experience, .22 autoloaders are harder to shoot well than a good 'service pistol.' I am far and away a better shot with 9mm and cheap ammo than I am with any .22 I've shot (Beretta NEOS, Walther P22, Browning Buckmark, Ruger .22 of some kind) using MiniMags.

You know, it's pretty brave of you to open yourself up for criticsm here or anywhere by that matter...
Me, I'm always happy to not waste the targets I buy by at least punching holes in them ;) Plus, it gives me another excuse to go back for more practice!

I think a lot of persons have answered you correctly~! What that kind'a
shooting you should be able to defend your life, or the lives of loved ones.
"Good shot's", are those people you can make one ragged hole in a B-9
target with a .45 ACP, from 25 yards out~! Don't worry, I can't do it
either; but as they say, "Practice Makes Perfect"~!:D I'm still try'in~! ;)

Could be worse. About a month ago I saw a guy on the 7 yard line missing the entire target. Yes, I've done that before too, but not off sandbags piled up to eye level!
