I'm new here so if this belongs somewhere else, I definitely do apologize folks.

I recently purchased an XDM 9mm as a range gun (it is pretty nice) and I ordered another set of magazines (19 round) direct from Springfield.

Today I received an e-mail from Springfield informing me that they couldn't ship 19 round magazines to my city...But I BOUGHT the XDM with 19 round magazines in my city so I'm a bit confused here.

I've had other sellers ship 15 round, 30 round, etc. magazines to my home without issue for the past 5ish years (post AWB).

Has anyone else had this problem? Is there an online database that has the "magazine limits" per city in it? The last I checked the mag limits in my city were 30 for handguns. I don't know any LEO's to check with, but I also don't want to raise any red flags if you catch my drift..."Hey officer, is this 19 round clip cool or WHAT!?"

Now I'm freaking out that my 7 round Mossy and 30 round AR mags are illegal, but I don't know!

Thanks for any help folks!

never ask a cop about the law talk to a lawyer to find out what the law actually says. Here in Ma we still live under the AWB of 94,we also have to have a LTC to own a pistol. Said LTC limitation are set by the Chief LEO of the city you live in. I have a LTC class A which allows me to own/carry pistols capable of using high cap mags. A local cop tells me I can't carry a pistol with high cap mag despite the fact that the law says other wise,so who do you believe, the cop or state law.

If Walnut Hills has any sort of magazine capacity limit it is no longer valid. The Ohio legislature passed preemption a while back, so any local ordinances that restricted magazines more than the state law became invalid. You might want to call Springfield and find out why they won't ship, and explain that the law may have changed.

Cincinnati used to have a local AWB. Many places still won't ship there because they are unaware that it has sunset.

Thanks for the advice highlander and Invisible Swordsman.

I had heard about the Ohio preemption...I just wanted to make sure I wasn't breaking the law without knowing it...We'll see what Springfield says.

You got it, just let me know and I'll hit my bookie up on his two-way pager right after I finish watching this new show called Friends.

Springfield said the last they'd heard they weren't legally allowed to ship anything over 10 to Cincinnati. I actually spoke with a manager-level person in their call center and she said they were aware of the change and was working on the paperwork but that it could be months. They're nice folks, but jeez...

Springfield called me today and after speaking with their legal team have decided that it IS indeed legal to ship fun things to Cincinnati...

Good, as a fellow Buckeye, I'm especially glad that was cleared up. But, given the current state of the laws, I guess you can't blame the gun maker for being extra cautious.

I declare that every Cincinnatian that orders full cap mags from Springfield from here on out owes jjspec4 an adult beverage of his choice :D

You're too kind zunfolge! Since this is the first time to my knowledge that Springfield has shipped mags over 15, I think they just didn't know and needed a friendly reminder of Ohio House Bill 347.

Cheers
