Wonders will never cease. The viciously hoplophobic Herald actually printed a strong ,literate letter advocating CC in National Parks and elsewhere, and making exceptionally strong rational arguments in the bargain.
My compliments to Mr.Fredrick and the Herald for printing his thought provoking letter.

Guns in U.S. parks
The March 25 article More guns may enter U.S. parks seems to paint a bleak picture despite The Miami Herald's own poll, which runs more than five to one in favor of legislation that allows people to carry their firearms into U.S. parks.
The Miami Herald also once commented that there would be mayhem on the streets if a concealed-weapon permit were made available. That didn't happen. And the parks will be no more dangerous if state law is blanketed over to them. Parks actually will become more secure.
When Florida set the pace for concealed-weapons permits in the '80s, the Brady campaign was certain of the carnage. In the early '90s it became apparent that carrying a legal hand gun did not contribute to crime. Rather, crime was actually ebbing.
The folks carrying are not the crazed, mutant warriors your paper paints them to be. We are the 475,000 folks who are behind you in line at the grocery store or the person holding the door for you at the mall. We are the ones who also stop two million crimes a year in our country with the firearms we legally carry.
If we are given the right to carry legal concealed firearms into our national parks, I can guarantee that the parks and their legal visitors will suffer no ill effect. What will happen is another gun-free zone will become a more-secure place.
