I use mine for a local animal shelter, animal friends.
I have monthly auto payments sent to tunnels2towers, GOA and FOAC (a PA based gun rights group). 20 bucks a month to each. not a lot but i'm a old construction worker and it's the best I can do.

I figured the doggies could use some help too.

Isn't AMAZON.COM owned by a very liberal person? Or has my memory failed me ..... again.

Not a clue. If it is he/they/her realizes the profit and good will involved in charity and wildness to donate.
Is the NRA Foundation actually a charity?

Yes, Jeff Bezos... also owns the Washington Post...

I set mine to contribute to the Navy Seal Foundation. Just my opinion (obviously), but there are many more worthy causes than the NRA... at least until they can get their act together...

That's interesting...that it's so low for the NRA. I got a similar notice this morning that the Second Amendment Foundation got a quarterly of $13243.48. More people donating to the SAF than to the NRA last month? $135234.16 total so far so the total is less than the NRA. Does that represent the dropoff in NRA donations after the fiasco at the top?

Was there really a fiasco at the top?

I suppose it depends on what your definition of fiasco is, but yes, there was/is some controversy. I'm not going to post links or comment further as it is not the subject of the thread, but you can do a few web searches to investigate and draw your own conclusions.

ETA: Just to be clear, the issues were with the NRA proper and not the Foundation.

I'm just expressing surprise that a liberal like Bezos would do something progun.

For those who might not know, some information about Amazon Smile: (https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201365340)

"AmazonSmile is a website operated by Amazon with the same products, prices, and shopping features as Amazon.com. The difference is that when you shop on AmazonSmile, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price of eligible products to the charitable organization of your choice."

So actually, the beliefs of Bezos have nothing to do with this either way. Amazon Smile allows donations to IRS qualified charities if the charity registers with Amazon Smile. They do not screen charities in or out. The NRA Foundation is an IRS qualified charity and has registered, so that's pretty much it.

 Oh , so THAT 'splains it! ! ! Cool.

I got this:
This is your quarterly AmazonSmile donation notification. Your charity, NRA Civil Rights Defense Fund, recently received a quarterly donation of $5,747.42 thanks to customers shopping at smile.amazon.com.

Interesting that there are at least two NRA options at Amazon Smile.

Judicial Watch, SAF, there are so many good ones. The NRA has its problems -- you can't work in the swamp without getting mud on you, but they are still perhaps the most powerful lobby because of their membership. I for one was PO'd by the wqay they just rolled over on bump stocks, which I believe sets a horrible precedence.

Yes. However this is the way it's supposed to work. "I would hope that no one would choose to own a firearm. However I support freedom and that is their decision to make. Tyranny is not an option". I don't know why anyone left or right would support totalitarianism but apparently a lot do.

PS I wish my net worth went up 2.75 MILLION PER HOUR like Jeff Bezos.

There is no chance I will donate to the NRA until and unless

  • Ted Nugent is removed from any office
  • LaPierre is removed from office
  • The election process is extended to all members
  • There is a a clear feedback mechanism for instructors regarding the curriculum of NRA courses
