Amazon supporting GUN CONTROL

So I guess if I start a charity to raise money for the Iranian nuclear weapons program they will donate to that. Sweet.

I edited my post (possibly while you were responding) ... looks like you don't even have to be a charity to become an Associate.

Amazon.com is supporting people who put up affiliate links to them.

Which of course is how business works.

While we're on this subject, though .... Coors (the pro-Second Amendment beer company) sells its products to anti-gun people! So does every car manufacturer in the world!

This from the USPSA site:

Amazon Associates Program Benefits USPSA
At No Cost to MEMBERS
The Amazon affiliation program pays USPSA a commission on all purchases made by following the Amazon link on this page, or the Amazon link on the USPSA members page. The commission to USPSA is generally 5%, and you pay the same price as you would if you visited Amazon.com directly. There is no additional cost to you for helping USPSA. This is about as close to a free lunch as it gets - USPSA benefits from your Amazon purchases, and you don't spend a penny more on your purchase.

Please remember the USPSA Amazon affiliate program when ordering on-line from Amazon.com.

Barnes & Noble Barnes and Noble
The Barnes and Noble affiliation program is very similar to the one we have with Amazon - just use the link to the left to visit the Barnes and Noble web site.

Geez, some of you guys really are starting to spoil the whole needling paranoid conspiracy kharma and bringing me down. How can we survive without the belief that everyone and everything is out to get us, including ourselves?

Spin it any way you want. The fact is that Amazon is supporting monetarily a group that wants to disarm you. I don't care what other charities or organizations they support. Would it be ok with you if Winchester or Colt gave a portion of their sales to any organization that asked for it including a very active anti gun group? Do you ever think they would do that? Nope, of course not. Support them if you want, I won't.

Gee, it looks like some of you old geezers have fought the good fight for too long and are burnt out. My tax dollars I have no control over. My disposable income I have complete control over.

Rise and shine boys, even if you have to arrange for the staff at the nursing home to set your alarm. A young guy named Obama is VERY likely to be our next president and with the majority democratic congress that will ride his coattails into Washington.......you can't imagine the gun control legislation which will come down the pike. Likely for the next 8 LONG years. January 09 will be battlestations. Have the nurses set those alarms please.

You DO realize that the NRA has a similar Amazon affiliate link off their site, right?

Or you can go directly to Amazon by typing in the URL and support nobody. It's up to you. No reason to hit the panic button.

They're just kicking cash back to people that make purchases through the website in question. GunControlNetwork only gets money for people that buy books after clicking on the amazon link on the GunControlNetwork webpage. They're doing work for amazon, amazon pays them. It doesn't mean amazon is any more pro gun control than the people that write me pay checks are. Amazon will not be shutting down their referral system, you should take advantage of it and drive traffic through your own referral links and earn money for 2A causes.

Some folks are set on finding a boogieman wherever they can. Can't do much to convince them, just try to limit the damage they do.

Hahaha. If Hama's pick for the US Presidency is a young guy, I must be spring chicken. The Amazon link is a non-issue.

"I come before you to stand behind you and speak to you of things I know nothing about"- Liberal Politician who shall remain nameless and hopefully jobless

Umm, yeah. Did you even read the other posts?

Check out #9, 16, and 17

There is no possible way that you could agree with every one of a big e-company's affiliate sites... They are simply providing a "sales commission" to the refering site (the folks who sent them that specific business). Apparently the USPSA and NRA are being paid by Amazon too. For that matter, THR could probably get in on that program! I know for a fact that a hiking forum I subscribe to has a referal deal going with REI. It is the nature of the information age, and the commisions are small.

If you want to make a difference, always try to link through the sites you support when you shop (say, the NRA or USPSA).

If you try to boycott every company who even knows someone who doesn't like guns, you'll be shopping at a very few stores.

This was, perhaps, the most useless thread we've had in a while.

The question is it worthwhile for us to associate THR with amazon.com?

I spent about $60 a month there. I am sure we can use the money for servers and bandwidth.
